Did you ever have a great idea for a custom license plate? Perhaps someone else already had the name or you didn’t want to spend the extra money.
We can’t solve that problem. But we did find a web site that lets you make your own license plate for free.
Actually, it just creates a small JPG file that you can download to your computer. Then you can display it on a web site, add it to your email signature, print them out on stickers, or do whatever you might do with small graphic files. The files are small, so you can’t blow them up to a large size and expect them to look good.
The program is based on a collection of 505 blank license plate images, including seven styles from Michigan. You pick the state, the year, and the characters you want to include on the plate. Many plates limit the number of characters, just like real plates. But they don’t limit your creativity.
If you like a plate you made, right click on the image and choose “Save Link As…” Then you pick a folder on your computer where you want to save it. At that point you can also rename the file, if you like.
You can make as many plates as you want.
We’ve include a few samples on this page. You don’t have to limit yourself to car names like we did. Let your imagination run wild and have some fun.
