National Tire Safety Week
April 23 - April 27

National Tire Safety Week is designed to promote awareness about tire safety and the significance of regular tire maintenance. Properly maintained tires improve the handling, fuel efficiency, stopping, traction and capacity of your Volvo.

Here are some important things to remember about tire safety:

  • Know your vehicles recommended tire size and tire inflation pressure
  • Make sure your tire valves have valve caps
  • Check your vehicles tire pressure at least once a month (use a reliable digital gauge if at all possible)
  • Always inflate your tires to the recommended tire pressure
  • Inspect tires for uneven wear patterns on the tread
  • Tires should be replaced when the tread is worn down to 1/16 of an inch. This will help you avoid skidding and hydroplaning
  • Look for the built-in treadwear indicators that will tell you when it is time to replace
  • Follow the designated schedule for tire rotation for your vehicle
  • Do not overload your vehicle
  • Tires should definitely be replaced within six years of normal service
  • Observe posted speed limits
  • Avoid potholes and objects on the road

Following these simple safety tips will ensure that you avoid any of the common causes of tire failures, and enjoy your Volvo driving experience.
